Ceremony
for Lost Children Workshop September 5, 2010
On
September 5, we will have a Memorial Ceremony
for Lost Children. Jizo can help heal our feelings of loss for
children who passed at a young age from accident, illness, stillbirth,
abortion or miscarriage. We can let go of sadness at the beginning
of the school year when memories can surface. See the flyer
below for details.
Meditation
and Peace Study Group
September
begins a new focus on Thursday nights including September
2, 9, 16, and 23. Starting at 7:00 pm we will have
a silent chair meditation followed by a discussion of the book
Peace Is The Way by Deepak Chopra. Yoga is discontinued
for the time being. We thank Susan de Gaia for being willing
to lead us in exercises for the last few months.
Entertainment
Books
As a fundraiser, the Jizo Peace Center now has Entertainment
Coupon Books for sale at $25 with huge merchant savings for
the San Fernando Valley, Santa Barbara, and Bakersfield. Other
city books available on request. Support the Center and save
$$ too! See the flyer below for details.
Compassion Film Night
On September 17, we will show "Fast Food
Nation" at 7:00 for our Compassion Film Night. You are
welcome to bring snacks.
Giant
Peace Doves to Fly in Pasadena
On September 21, Peace Tent in Pasadena has
asked the Jizo Peace Center (see www.peacetent.blogspot.com)
to bring our 3 Giant Peace Doves to fly that evening. We will
walk around the block near the Central Library and All Saints
Church. Please attend the week's festivities in the evenings
from September 19 to September 26. You can lend your chimes
or bells for the week in return for a tag that shows that were
rung at the Peace Tent.
Daily
Meditations
Daily
meditations continue at the Center. Call (661) 242-6956 for
specific times.
The
Jizo Peace Center now has a Prayer Book, and we will read the
